Dr Prabha S Chandra is Professor of Psychiatry and previous head at the National Institute of Mental Health and Neuro Sciences (NIMHANS), Bangalore, India. She is the Project Lead for Stree Manoraksha. She is the President elect of International Association of Women’s Mental Health. Dr Chandra started the first Mother Baby Inpatient Psychiatric Unit and specialised Perinatal Psychiatry service in Asia at Bangalore. She is the co-author of the World Psychiatric Association curriculum on Intimate Partner Violence and Sexual Violence. Dr Chandra has been the Principal Investigator of 14 research grants in the area of women’s mental health. She is the Associate Editor of the Archives of Women’s Mental Health and sits on the Editorial Board of Lancet Psychiatry. She has also served as a Temporary Advisor to the World Health Organisation and UNAIDS and is a nominated member of the Mission Steering Group (MSG) of the National Health Mission, Government of India. She has received several awards for her work including the Professor Channi Kumar Oration, of the Marce International Society for Perinatal Psychiatry. In 2018, she was profiled in the Lancet Psychiatry as a champion for Women’s Mental Health in India.
Dr Veena Satyanarayana is an Associate Professor in Clinical Psychology at National Institute of Mental Health and Neuro Sciences (NIMHANS), Bangalore. She is the Co-Investigator of Project Stree Manoraksha. Dr Veena completed her M.Phil. and PhD in Clinical Psychology from NIMHANS, Bangalore and holds a Post Doctoral Fellowship (PDF) from Washington University, St. Louis in the U.S.A. A well-known researcher in women’s mental health, she specialises in trauma focused psychotherapies. She is the Associate Editor of BMC Women’s Health. She is from Bangalore and is fluent in Kannada, Hindi and English. She is a nature lover, believes that elephants rock and loves to travel. She goes by the motto of making the most of what life has to offer!
Dr Kimneihat Vaiphei is the Co-Investigator of Project Stree Manoraksha from Imphal, Manipur. She is currently an Assistant Professor of Psychiatric Social Work in National Institute of Mental Health and Neurosciences. She has a Master’s in Social Work, an M.Phil and a Ph.D. in Psychiatric Social Work. She lives by the motto ‘live and let live’. You will find her listening to music, doing DIY craft, watching football matches in her leisure time. she is fluent in English, Hindi and Manipuri.
Dr Madhuri H N is an Assistant Professor of project Stree Manoraksha. She has completed her M.D. Psychiatry and a Post-Doctoral Fellowship in women’s mental health from National Institute of Mental Health and Neuro Sciences (NIMHANS). Her responsibilities in the project include curriculum development and supervision of the training sessions for the OSC counsellors. She is originally from Bengaluru, the garden city and loves to speak Kannada, English and Hindi. She lives by the motto ‘Believe in yourself and push your limits’. When she is not working, you can find her eating, sipping coffee or exploring nature.
Sampurna Chakraborty is the Program Manager of project Stree Manoraksha. She is from Kolkata and is fluent in English, Hindi and Bangla. Her primary responsibilities in the project include curriculum development and supervision of the training sessions for the OSC counsellors and other staff on mental health and trauma-informed care. She has an M.Phil. in Clinical Psychology from the Institute of Psychiatry, Kolkata. She is currently enrolled in her PhD program in Clinical Psychology from Central Institute of Psychiatry (CIP), Ranchi. Her previous professional engagements include working as a Clinical Psychologist and researcher for 3.5 years in CIP and as an Assistant Professor in Psychology for 1 year in Mount Carmel College, Bangalore. She has received Asia Subsistence Fellowship Award in 2015, a gold medalist from West Bengal University of Health Sciences (2018) and was awarded the T.B. Singh Memorial Award (2019). She has presented research papers in World Conference of Cognitive and Behavioral Therapies in 2020 held in Berlin, Germany. She has also presented in many national conferences and awarded the Best Paper Prize in Indian Association of Clinical Psychologists Conference in 2018 and 2020. She has five publications in indexed journals. She is very fond of playing with cats and dogs and is very passionate about tea. She likes reading while proofreading in her free time. Sampurna lives by the motto “I am better than what I was, I will be better than what I am”.
Gurinder Preet Kaur is the Project Assistant: Trainer from Chandigarh, Punjab. Her primary responsibilities as Project Assistant include curriculum development, training counsellors and OSC staff, supervision and support to OSC staff, and creating assessment tools. She has an M.A. in Social Work in Mental Health from Tata Institute of Social Sciences and an M.Phil. in Psychiatric Social Work from National Institute of Mental Health and Neuro Sciences, Bangalore. She has previously worked as a Clinical Social Worker for Psychiatric and Addiction Rehabilitation. She lives by the motto ‘if you bug me, I’ll bite you’. During leisure hours, Gurinder loves to café-hop for food and desserts and devote time for self-care. She is proficient in English, Hindi and Punjabi.
Rosina Arul is the Project Assistant: Trainer Delhi. Her Primary responsibilities as Project Assistant include training counsellors and OSC staff at the interventional level, providing supervision and support to OSC staff. She has completed her M.Phil in Psychiatric Social Work from Central Institute of Psychiatric, Ranchi and Master in Social Work specializing in Mental Health from Tata Institute of Social Sciences. She has a keen interest in working with women and children. In her Leisure time, she enjoys reading, travelling, playing with dogs, being active in sprinting, swimming and exploring new places to eat. She is fluent in English, Hindi and Tamil.She lives by the motto written by Robert Frost – “When two roads diverge, take the one less travelled, and that will make all the difference”.
Devanshi Goradia is the Project Assistant: Trainer from Mumbai and is fluent in English, Hindi and Gujarati. Her primary responsibilities as Project Assistant trainer include curriculum development, training counsellors and OSC staff, supervision and support to OSC staff, and creating assessment tools. She has done her M.Sc. in Clinical Psychology from Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences, Bangalore and M.Phil in Clinical Psychology, PGIBAMS, Raipur. She is currently pursuing UGC accredit Certificate Course on Family and Couple Therapy from the Tata Institute of Social Sciences. Her previous professional engagements include working as a Lecturer for Masters in Counselling Psychology, SNDT University, Mumbai and working as a Consultant Psychologist at SNEHA (Society for Nutrition, Education and Health Action) Devanshi is a beach and nature lover, who enjoys hiking, travelling, exploring new cuisines. Minnu Elsa Abraham is the Project Assistant:Trainer from Kerala. Her primary responsibilities as Project Assistant include curriculum development, training counsellors and OSC staff at the interventional level, supervision and support to OSC staff. She has completed her M.Phil. in Psychiatric Social Work from NIMHANS Bengaluru and has previously worked as a social worker in two different projects involving children. She is a firm believer in ‘kindness is the qualification that one should have irrespective of any other education’. She loves to travel, sing and enjoy the beauty of nature. She can speak Malayalam, Tamil and English fluently and can manage Kannada.
Remy Lobo is the Project Assistant: Trainer from Mangalore, Karnataka. His primary responsibilities as Project Assistant include curriculum development, training counsellors and OSC staff at the interventional level, supervision and support to OSC staff. He has an M.Phil. in Psychiatric Social work from National Institiute of Mental Health and Neurosciences, Bengaluru. He has a work experience of 7 + years in various fields such as de-addiction, child health and violence. He is proficient in English, Kannada, Hindi, Konkani and Tulu. Outside of work, Remy spends his leisure time adoring music, cricket and exploring new things. Remy’s motto in life is ‘no motto, only Zomato’.
Shristhi Patra is the Media Coordinator for Project Stree Manoraksha from Patna (Bihar). Her primary responsibilities as Media Coordinator include designing and implementing media on women and mental health issues and developing content for broadcast, social media, and social multimedia management. She has two Masters in Journalism from the Asian College of Journalism, Chennai, and Gender Studies from Ambedkar University, Delhi. Previously, she has worked as Sub-editor for News Platter, a digital media news start-up, and as a Research Associate with Pratham Education foundation on maternal health and child nutrition. She is an ardent believer of ‘private is political’. You will often find her obsessing over cats and painting abstract work on gender and mental health outside office premises. She is fluent in English, Hindi and Bangla.
Swetha G. is the Project Coordinator for Stree Manoraksha from Bangalore, Karnataka. She has a Bachelor’s and a Master’s degree in social work, and a post-graduation diploma in Human Resource Management. Swetha lives by the motto’ live and let live’ and loves to watch English thriller movies and reads Indian English novels for fun. She is fluent in English and Kannada.
